The History Boys is set in the fictional Cutlers' Grammar School in the nineteen-eighties. In this award-winning play, Alan Bennett evokes the special time that the "sixth form" represents in an English boy's life. In doing so, he not only raises universal questions about history and how it is taught, but also questions more generally the purpose of education today.
