The Full Monty is a play by Simon Beaufoy, from his original screenplay for the smash hit 1997 film of the same name. It is about six out-of-work, impoverished steelworkers from Sheffield in England, with nothing to lose, who decide to form a male striptease act in order to gather enough money to get somewhere else in life and for the main character, Gaz, to be able to see his son. As they prepare for the show, working through their fears, self-consciousness and anxieties, they overcome their inner demons and find strength in their camaraderie. This hilarious and heartfelt production has become one of Britain’s most successful shows. The play features music by Tom Jones, Hot Chocolate and James Brown.
